Why should I switch to 209software from my low-cost hosting service?
Some of you shouldn't. But the service we offer at 209software is designed to fit
hand-in-hand with our design services. For instance, our hourly design rate for
our hosting clients ($40/hour) is lower than our rates for sites we don't host ($65/hour).
Also, if you plan to ask us to make frequent changes to your site, we include up
to 2 hours of maintenance and/or service a month to our web hosting clients. If
you're hosting at another site, we charge our normal hourly design rates for that
time.
If I still want to host at a cheap web hosting company, can you still design or
modify our site?
Of course. 209software can design a site to be hosted on any server, even an internal
company server.
What if I already have a site, and just need a few changes? Can you help with that?
Of course. We do that all the time.
Why do I need a professional web developer, when anyone can design a website?
If you want to make your own website, go right ahead. Most of our new accounts come
from small businesses that had their nephew, cousin, brother, son, or daughter make
them a web site for free, and now it's outdated, it's unprofessional, it
contains numerous factual and grammatical errors, and the relative who built it
has lost interest in helping. Seriously, we see this a lot.
Also, we see a lot of situations where the vanished web developer has lost
all the passwords and the original files to build the site, leaving your outdated
prices, news articles, etc. online. This costs you business, and presents a very
unprofessional image to the entire world.
So go ahead and have your family member create a site for free, and call us in three
to five years to clean up the mess. Or call us now and get a professional site you
can rely on. It's your call.
If we have 209software design our site, will we lose the rights to our logos, themes,
and other intellectual property?
You lose nothing. We will use your logos and designs on your site only and we will
sign a non-disclosure agreement with you - keeping your intellectual property safely
in your ownership.
If we have 209software design our site, will we be locked in to having you do our
site forever, even if we want to change developers, or start doing our site development
in-house?
When we design your site, you own all the pages, data, and images used to
build it. We do have a plan to lock you in, but that plan includes outstanding
customer service, not tricky contracts.
How does 209software maintain control of sensitive information when farming work
out overseas?
Good question. We don't send any work overseas. Our workers are Americans, working
in America, and our webservers are hosted in the United States. We know it costs
a little more, but with the number of our fellow Americans looking for work, it's
the least we can do. We do NOT offer any offshoring of work, even if you want us
to. If our workload exceeds our resources, we have a U.S. consulting service we
use for the overflow.
How long have you guys been around?
Looking at the stack of business licenses on the wall, the answer is
12 years and 8 months
. Yes, we opened in Manteca, California on 5/19/1999! We had a short
run in Modesto, California before that, but all that stuff is in a box.
